18. Crazy Enough, Storm Large

16 Jun

Beautiful Storm.

A compelling, brilliant, illuminating, entertaining-though-dark memoir about the Portland-area rock star’s childhood growing up with a crazy mom, and the damage it wreaked. Strangely, for a book about how horrible a mom was, what ends up coming through was how much Storm, and her whole family loved and were hurt by this woman. I’m sorry the story was marketed as being so niche, because it feels like a book that could have had much wider appeal. It’s incredibly charming, funny and well-written, and the truths about mothers and daughters feel universal. Loved it!
